Course Descriptions

Home Decorative Sewing
Learn to make a variety of home decorating projects for your home ranging from simple swags, pillows, and shams to more formal window treatments or bed linens. A knowledge of sewing machine operation is required.

Knitting/Crochet Club
This is a student-directed Knitting/Crochet Club. No teacher or instruction provided. If you already know the basics, come and work on a project of your choice. Join the fun of working with others who enjoy the same hobby.

New Millennium Quilting Club
This is a student-directed Quilting Club. No teacher or instruction provided. This is not your grandmother's quilt, but she would have loved it! This is a modern approach to quilting. Quilts are pieced and quilted in one operation, plus they are a quilt on both sides. Come and make a heirloom quilt and join the fun. Suitable for ALL EXPERIENCED QUILTERS. This is a FUN, progress-at-your-own-pace class.

Sewing - Beginning
Learn how to select fabric, use commercial patterns, and sew garments for you or your family on our machines or yours. Individualized instruction - each student chooses his/her own appropriate pattern and is guided through its completion. No supplies are necessary for the first class.

Sewing - Lab
Basic sewing skills required. Bring your individual sewing project (home dec, garment, etc.) and receive help as you need it. This is a relaxed, progress-at-your-own-pace class.

Sewing - Serger
You will need your serger and basic threads. This class will cover threading, use of the serger, sewing of garments, and decorative threads. Supply list will come with current project.

Sewing Techniques
Learn sewing shortcuts that work. Industrial techniques: set-in sleeves easily in any fabric; "truing" your pattern; easy accurate markings; perfecting zippers, collars, and pockets (even on difficult fabrics). Finishing cuffs, waistbands, collar stands, etc without "tucking-in" ends. Darts, sizing, adjusting patterns, taking proper measurements. Getting armholes and necklines to fit properly.
