Course Descriptions

- Acting Class
- Experience the joy of acting. In this class, you will work on selecting,
learning, and performing monologues (parts of plays which are spoken by one
character). Monologues let you express yourself comfotably in front of an
audience and shine as an actor. The final class will be a casual performance
of monologues by all actors (who wish to participate) for friends, family
and invited guests. Monologues will be provided or you may bring in your own
material.
- Screenwriting Class
- Got a great idea for a movie? In this class you'll learn about structure,
format, story, character, dialogue of quality screenwriting. Students will
be able to write a synopsis and first ten pages of their screenplay and receive
constructive feedback in class. We will also discuss ways to market your screenplay.
- You're On The Air - (How To Really Make It In Voice-Overs!)
- Voice-overs are hot today! You don't have to be an actor to get voice-over work, but it certainly doesn't hurt! With such notable talent as James Earl Jones, Linda Hunt, and Donald Sutherland lending their voices to commercials, films, and videos, one would think that it would be next to impossible to break into this field. Not so! In this class, you'll learn about an exciting new way to get around the competition and actually turn voice-overs into a thriving full or part-time business! Dan Levine, a well-known commercial producer and Tony Award-nominated Broadway composer will discuss voice-over technique in a recorded portion of the class. James Benedetti, successful voice-over artist, will introduce students to the voice-over business as a whole. He will talk about the numerous opportunities, the income potential, and the all-important demo and how to have it produced. You'll step up to the microphone to do some practice recording, and best of all, hear the results!
- Writing - Powerful Writing
- Learn to write clearly and concisely for varied tasks and audiences through the writing process: prewriting, writing and revising. Course covers the conventions of standard written English with sensitivity to those whose first language is not English.
- Writing - Solving Common Writing Problems
- Students, business people, writers of all categories improve writing skills
to communicate more effectively and to influence teachers, business associates,
etc. From planning to formatting to editing. From essay to letter to proposal
writing.
